Well, it's rap, right? This is a song I did that's about someone in particular (not saying names), but on a larger level it's about the music business and business relationships that happen, and can sometimes go bad.
I write and produce music out of Augusta, GA at the moment. My name is Derek Caldwell, and I'm from southern Michigan. I have my hands in too many projects to count; my main hustle right now is producing hip-hop music for local artists in the Augusta area, and I occasionally get on the mic myself. I work with all types of people musically, across all genres.

I don't think my life story needs to be told here, hee hee.Have you performed in front of an audience?I've been a musician for probably 15 years. I've been in several pop and rock bands up in Michigan and had a great time performing up there. I'm still great friends with almost all the guys I've played with over the years. I loved playing live and I've had probably had a million memorable moments! Some of my favorites include winning our high school battle of the bands (along with a bunch of cash) two years in a row... and selling out the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a legendary venue where some greats have played over the years (Hendrix, Nirvana etc.)
Your musical influences
I have way too many to mention here. I really believe I'm influenced by any music that hits my ears... even stuff I hate. I have to figure out why I hate it, which makes me learn more about myself as an artist. I love to argue with people about music, why it's good or bad etc. And I really try to spend a lot of time just listening to music... not doing anything else, just sitting there and listening. That's the only way to make good music in the present, is to pay attention to what's worked in the past.What equipment do you use?
I have lots and lots of stuff. Some high quality, some ghetto as heck.
Right now I have a macbook and do all my production and engineering using Reason (for beats) and apple logic for my DAW. I have a mid grade AKG mic and it does a great job for me. I have an M-Audio 410 interface going out to my KRK Rokit 8's (best in the game if you do hip-hop, if you've never heard a pair you NEED to check 'em out, best bang for your buck).
I've got a Washburn electric guitar that gets me by but I really need a new one. I have an Ibanez Soundgear 500 bass that I absolutely love. Plenty of other stuff too... but that's the meat and potatoes of it.Anything else?
