Well, I'm a singer/songwriter from IL. I picked up a guitar in 1999 in the duplex I was renting after a party and started teaching myself how to play. I didn't know I picked up the guitar upside down (it was strung right handed but I played on it lefty...like Hendrix before he found a left handed guitar). I never changed because it just felt so comfortable to play that way. I wrote a song that night entitled, "Jamie's Song" and have been writing and playing ever since.
I was the lead singer in a band called, Fate with Roy Butler, Matt Harbour, Anthony Hines, and Mike Best. This band only featured a few of my actual written songs. Then I started Papa Doria and the Talent with Roy Butler, Keith Ginsburg and Rad Akers. This band featured all songs I wrote and broke up in 2006.
I have in the past played live several places. In 2006, I had my son Michael and it put a slow on my playing. Recently in the last six months I have been jamming again with my bassist and long time friend Roy Butler. We are planning to play out again soon. I love to play out. Love it.
Besides the obvious I actually draw my influences from a lot of different music. I enjoy dwelling in different genres and finding out what makes them tick. You can learn a lot from musicians if you open your mind to what they are trying to do and say.
I currently own two guitars, one is a Martin and one is a Taylor. I am using the Taylor at the moment.
