A Duncanville High School graduate, Angela achieved all 1st place awards for vocal competitions throughout her high school career. She is also a product of the Arts Magnet
at Booker T. Washington School for the Performing Arts High School during her 9th and 10th grade years of high school.
Angela has shared the stage with many and performed in many places. In the early 90's, Angela was cast as an "Angel of Mercy" singer in the motion picture film, "Leap of Faith" starring Steve Martin, Debra Winger, and Liam Neeson. She has been under the musical direction of the mega producers George Duke, Dan Carlin, and Edwin Hawkins. She has been the opening act for entertainers Jeffrey Osborne, Regina Belle, and the Isley Brothers. She has also headlined and performed for many private functions for companies locally and abroad such as Merrill Lynch, Dallas City Council, Hotel Zsa Zsa, NAACP, Hurricane Katrina Relief, Essence Magazine, & Kraft Foods, Paula White Ministries, Tom Joyner Family Reunion in Walt Disney/Orlando, Florida.
Angela has also shared the stage with many artists such as Albertina Walker, Ricky Dillard, LaShun Pace, Edwin Hawkins, Kim Burrell, John Legend, Byron Cage, Mary-Mary, John Legend, Destinys Child, Alicia Keys, Fantasia, LeToya Luckett, Tyrese, Ruben Studdard, RIZEN, Mary J.Blige, LL Cool J, Earth, Wind, & Fire, The Black-Eyed Peas, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Aretha Franklin, Kem, Lionel Richie, New Edition, Jaheim, Chris Brown, Charlie Wilson, Keyshia Cole,Yolanda Adams, Doug E. Fresh, Toni Braxton, Jamie Foxx and countless others.
Angela has also had the pleasure of performing for dignitaries as well as actors such as Civil Rights Activist Jesse Jackson, Dr. Cornel West, Magic Johnson, Essence Founder Ed Lewis, Pete Schenkel, Tom Joyner, Donna Richardson Joyner, Actor Shemar Moore, Essence Editorial Director Susan L. Talbert, Congresswoman Shelia Jackson-Lee, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, Matthew Knowles, Deion Sanders, and so many others to name a few.
Angela is a featured participant in the upcoming sports/fitness DVD with Fitness Hall of Famer, Donna Richardson Joyner, Sweating in the Spirit II, (due out this fall) where she has partnered with Mrs. Richardson-Joyners movement to encourage America to renew the whole mind, body, and spirit through exercise and healthy living through the spirituality.
Angelas talent has been
recognized on a national level with her winning the 2005 Kraft Gospel Talent Search, where she won a $25,000 cash prize. Angela wowed the judges from that event, that included Sony Urban Gospel Executives Tara Griggs-Magee and Sony Epic Gospel artist Kim Burrell. The competition was held at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans and like all of us, Angela has great concern and continues to support efforts to re-establish those displaced by the hurricane that followed her great accomplishment.
Angela Blair has been featured in national advertisement and promotions that included prominent ads in Essence, Ebony, Todays Black Woman, Family Digest, and Jet magazines. Angela keeps her live performance skills sharp as she performs regularly, where she is in particularly high demand.
One of her performances during Valentines Day 2006, billed as Roses, Dinner, & Romance, was featured as one of the concerts to see in the Dallas Morning News Guidelive section. The show sold out and heralded by many as one of Angelas best performances.
Recently, Angela was given the "KEY" to the city of Corsicana, Texas before a performance there October 14, 2006. Her colleague and band member, Bobby Sparks, was given a day in his honor. Corsicana is Sparks' hometown.
Angelas new CD, Its All About Love is sure to be a delight to all that is blessed to witness this disc. Having already charted #1 in local releases at Tower Records and national independent charts, this CD is full of compassion, inspirational and romantic cuts.
