A.D. Smith (Doug) is a talent whose wide-ranging musical abilities allow him to explore harmonies and rhythms, melding them into composites of technique and soul. Listeners are at once impressed with his passion and energy. He has been firmly committed to the keyboard and machines with keyboards. His music is about what touches our souls and moves the human spirit. It is melodic and groove intensive leaning at times towards funk with sincere expressiveness and his delivery is full of feeling.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
From time to time I play gigs for community affairs in my home town of Peekskill, New York. "Do I like it"? There is no better feeling in the world than to here an audience memeber shout out something like "do it man"! My most recent "special moment" came only yesterday [6-10-2k]. I was asked by my good friend and producer to do some 'before-dinner-reception-kind of stuff". "No one will be paying any attention to what you are doing". To my delight as the people started to arrive the seemed to congregate in the area of the piano and when my friend came he gave me a signal with his palms up to turn it it up a little. Everyone had a great time...That was special!
Your musical influences
My influence are many. From Miles Davis to Marvin Gaye, from Ray Charles to Bob James, from Wes Montgomery to George Benson....and on...and on...
Anything else?
I sincedrely hope that every on enjoys my offering as much as enjoyed putting it all together!
