She Says She Knows She Says She Knows
This one's about an alien abduction I don't remember.
She is not a perfect person and has never claimed to be. She suffers from the foibles, lack of confidence, and depression at the moment which has stymied her flow of creativity.
The songs I've posted are minimalist productions recorded at Reel Sound Audio in Denton and feature James LaRocca on jazz guitar. The CD has one cover tune - Summertime by Gershwin and the other 6 tunes are my own. I play acoustic guitar and sing all the vocals. All were recorded live to 2" reel in one take and then dropped to DAT. The vocals are dry the way I like 'em. Hope you like what you hear.... The dog pictured is my chihuahua, Gomez. The picture was taken by Dan Magers at the Autumn 2003 Beanstock Acoustic Music Festival in Tom Bean, TX.
She will live in Corpus Christi until she has pushed back and defeated the depression which ensued upon losing her best friend...
Don't give up on her. Life is all about ups and downs. She will be pushing her way up just as soon as she is able.
In the meantime, she is taking a short hiatus and spending time with her 4 chihuahuas. Take a listen to her soulful expressions and songs of hope.
She is human. Aren't we all?Band/artist history
I've been singing as long as I've been alive. I remember swinging on my swings in my toddler panties with a little 12 transistor radio my Daddy gave me. The first songs I sang were Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash and I'll Sing in the Sunshine by Gale Garnet. Next, I had a long career of singing and playing guitar for 3 different Cathollc church choirs. High school brought band and a bunch of Blue UIL medals, Choir with more medals, and the Stage Band where I learned how to read jazz chord charts. College found me honing my solo artist skills at the Little Italy Pizzaria. Next came Corpus Christi and a few gigs at Cooper's Alley and the Zodiac. Then San Antonio where I had a band called the Strokes (yes, we had the name first) and the the Ritz. Many solo gigs including the Union Jack. Then Dallas where it all broke loose and I paid many dues and had many glories... now? NYC! C'mon! I'm ready for you Big Apple! :-)
Well almost....but first... I must regroup.Have you performed in front of an audience?I live in Corpus Christi at this time. I liked and lived in Dallas but having been here for 17 years needed a change... change is good. Special moments include all my Marty's gigs, The Dream Cafe, The Kennedy Center's Imagination Celebration, doing the Mr. Peppermint Show, being a finalist in the Dallas and Austin Lillith Faire, Artfest, Artwalk, Montage, all my private parties and kid's shows.
Now, I sing on Fridays at Joe's Crab Shack Lighthouse on Shoreline Drive here in Corpus Christi TX.
Your musical influences
Oooh... that's a hard question.. My influences are many! I'll list a few - Caetano Veloso, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Linda Ronstadt (many folks tell me I sound like her), Gershwin, Beatles (of course), Stones, Seal, and well, too many more to list...What equipment do you use?
I play an old Takamine "salesmen's model" acoustic guitar that I run thru a Dan Electro Chorus. No effects on the vocs (don't need any).Anything else?
Well, what else can I say? Listen to my music and please write to let me know what you think!Contact
