Nathan is a star of the London cabaret circuit and alternative gay scene. Alienathan is his latest creation and first venture into original song.
Previous creations include Puppetry of the Pops - a trio of tributes to Morrissey, Bowie, and Bush, and Rather Be Dead Than Gay - an ironic look at gay culture through his sexual and romantic disasters.Band/artist history
Nathan has been featured in The Face and Attitude with WOW, a recreation with puppets of Kate Bush's last live appearance in 1979, HEAVEN KNOWS I'M MISERABLE NOW, a musical inspired by the songs of The Smiths for Casio-keyboard and puppets, and ROCK'N'ROLL SUICIDE is the puppetry-promo Bowie never made.
In a previous life Nathan was awarded an Arts Council bursary to write a play for the Bush Theatre. His work was also performed at the Royal Court; his films have been seen on Channel 4 and at festivals around the world. He studied art at Oxford University.Have you performed in front of an audience?Venues include Turnmills, Madame JoJos, Komedia, Kashpoint, Drill Hall, Pleasance, Sound, Medium Rare, Cochrane Theatre, Glasgay, Homotopia, Hoxton Hall, Madame JoJos, BAC, Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, Medium Rare, Bestival, Aldeburgh festival. Barbican, ICA, Coronet. My debut at Duckie remains my fondest memory.
Your musical influences
I trained classically and that remains a big influence - these days I like to mix it with cheap electronic pop.What equipment do you use?
