AFFLICTED (UK)

Afflicted have been around since 2000 in the music industry and has gone through many musical evolutions. Our early days saw soundtracks, Rock and even RnB but now Afflicted is predominantly a Hard Rock band.

Afflicted can be described as the ultimate modern - old school incarnation of Hard Rock. To see where the music is going now, check out songs from the forthcoming new album "Cold".

We've been around for more than 10 years in the music scene. In our early days we were doing soundtracks for video games and film. around 6 years ago ( 2000 - 2002 ) we moved into mainstream music. It was just Rob and Menelaos (me) back then and we were trying to bridge the gap between Soundtracks, Rock and RnB. Quite a strange mix but "The AffliXion" was quite an interesting album all in all. The great thing about it was how diverse it was.

From 2002 - 2004 we worked on Mirror. I wrote all the songs ( except for "Hidden Meanings" which I co-wrote with Rob) and our focus changed to Rock / Heavy Rock. ( Although our Soundtrack and RnB influences still leaked in from time to time!) We were proud of Mirror because we wanted to try out all subgenres of Rock. We had some Metal, Rock, Slow Rock, elements of Punk on some tracks and even some electronic overtones for our vision of futuristic rock. Mirror generated a wide range of Afflicted fans and that's when we finally started to get some recognition. Several online awards and even number 1 spots here on soundclick, vitaminic and other music websites. We also recruited Nabz (drums), Keri Khaos (Guitars) and Bennos (Bass).

2005-2006 was a lot of fun! Our music had evolved again into what we now refer to as futuristic Alternative - Hard Rock. In that time I wrote and produced the "Oxygen" album. The album was in essence a hard rock / metal album but with underlying synths that really gave it a different feel. We had a lot of our soundtrack influence in the album and Oxygen was received especially well in the industry. More online awards, and we even had Oxygen be the theme song of a US TV show called Combat Tactics. That was pretty cool!

In 2007 We all got a bit older and we were in that phase of our lives that we needed some time out from music to focus on careers and family. A lot of members left the band because of this reason.

In 2008 I started working on music again. For a year and a half I wasn't really happy with the tracks I was writing and suddenly something big in my life happened to get the ball rolling .. The new Afflicted album is essentially a solo album and following the tradition of all Afflicted albums before it, the music has evolved again. It's stripped down to real guitars and vocals and is heavily influenced by the old school rock legends. "Cold" is the name of the new album and it should be out before January 2010.

We've now rebanded ( with some new members! ) and are getting ready to take the fight to live gigs again! :)

Generally London and Reading, though we choose to concentrate on the net. We love the music, it will always be the main reason why we play, a special moment was when we first played live.. We will never forget it..

AFFLICTED have many musical influences, ZAKK WYDLE, OZZY, SEVENDUST, DISTURBED, METALLICA, PANTERA, WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER, ALICE IN CHAINS, SURVIVOR, QUEEN, RONNIE JAMES DIO, even PHIL COLLINS! LOL Far too many to list here! We are unique, check us out!
