Band/artist history
Kenny Steward, aka “KinDeezil” makes music for Jesus Christ and enjoys doing it. Deezil’s dad was a DJ during Deezil’s early years, so he grew up listening to everything from Kenny Rogers to Roger Troutman & Zapp. Ken fell in love with music, all types of music, but his all time favorite genre is hip hop, and his creative specialty is making beats. Like many of us, Deezil spent much of his early years “doing his own thing,” but the Lord called him out of darkness and into His marvelous light. KinDeezil surrendered his life and talents to God. Eventually he found himself in the position of creating a slew of what he referred to as “homeless beats,” in search of the right Christian “emcee” to bless them. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the Deezil, his cousin by marriage, Todd Barnes (“tb”), was starting to write rhymes again. While he began writing rhymes in middle school, sometime in or before 1991, Todd honed his rhyme skills by writing and reciting arrogant, self-glorifying, blasphemous garbage raps that reflected his own lukewarm, compromising sinful lifestyle. Sometime in early 2005, having gotten to the point where he no longer liked himself or his rhymes, Todd hung up his mic and finally surrendered to Jesus Christ. In late 2005, however, he discovered modern Christian hip hop. Although no longer interested in being a “rapper,” the more Todd listened to Christian hip hop, the more he felt compelled to write to it. It soon became obvious that the Lord had not only redeemed him, but his rhyme skills as well. Not willing to let it be said that he would use the talent God gave him to glorify self but not God, tb recorded his debut e.p. “Eternal Principles” in the Spring of 2007. He quickly learned how expensive the process can be and questioned whether rhyming was something the Lord wanted him to do. He asked the Lord to show him what He wanted and essentially to shut it down or provide the resources needed to move forward. And he waited. KinDeezil had no idea that tb had rhymes, and tb had no idea that KinDeezil had beats until the appointed time when KinDeezil found it on his heart to text tb: “yo, I got beats check out my website.” When tb asked Deezil, “what made you send me that text message?” Deezil’s response was: “I don’t know, I sent it to a few Christian emcees, but the text didn’t go through. When I went to send it again something told me, ‘you forgot one, send this to Todd.’ Now I know why.” And the Lord said: "... For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required...." Luke 12:48. That said, KinDeezil & tb are now honored and humbled to be able to present to you words of eternal life through: "ETERNAL LIFE MUSIC.”
