Hello, my name is Chris Breen and I love music! The songs that you'll be hearing on this page are from my former band, Broken Existence. I just started recording and mixing my own projects about a year ago and I know I have much to learn but I love it! For a few years I struggled with paying other people to record my band's music and being completely unsatisfied with the results. So I feel that I am on the right path now with controlling my own musical destiny and I have the freedom to write and record anything I want!
Broken Existence was around from about 2004 to 2009. It was 5 years of ups and downs. everyone in the band got along cuz we were all childhood friends mostly. But after awhile I wanted to move on and challenge myself musically. My brother is a drummer and he has been involved in every musical project I've done and he has the same need to grow and expand musically. Some new metal material will be coming in the next few months...
Broken Existence used to play live in the local North Jersey metal scene. We broke up in 2009 and since then I've only played 2 shows with a random college cover band haha. I will definitely play out live again in the future but in the last 18 months I've really just focused on music production and the acoustic side project. But I'll be making moves in the near future....
Mostly hard rock/metal. A few major influences are Pantera (Dime is my favorite guitarist), Metallica, Alice in Chains, Guns N' Roses, the list goes on and on. Recently, I've been listening to some new prog metal bands like Periphery and Painted in Exile and this acoustic dude Andy Mckee. If it has groove or melody or both then I will listen to it.
Pro Tools Digi 003 with presonus digimax, pod x3 live. I just bought some new equipment but haven't used it yet on any recordings.
I hope you enjoy the music! And FYI: in the next few months my brother and I will be recording 3 or 4 new metal songs and posting them here and other sites. The hope is to recruit members to start a new band. Please be patient, we want to do these new songs right and will be recording and mixing all the parts (guitars, bass, vocals, drums) ourselves. But when it gets done, we'll be ready to jam with people!
