Formed in October 2000.
Band/artist history
Emerging from the barns of Pigeon, 88 miles per hour has one mission: find out what the matrix is. Formed in October 2000 to play the Laker High School battle of the bands, 88 miles per hour was composed of 2 sets of brothers and a friend. After a few shows before the battle of the bands, the boys realized that this band thing was pretty cool. They record a 2 song demo and say “that’s pretty cool”. Then in June 2001, Ryan steps up to lead vocals and the band records a 5 song demo. After a number of shows, the band ventures on a full length and finally completes “For the Better” and it is released July 2003. Working on a new EP and with the help of everyone around them, maybe they will just find out what the matrix is. (oh yeah, we already know what the matrix is...oh well it sounded cool) (no it didn’t)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live anywhere we can, right now mostly mid-Michigan. We love playing live, it's the most amazing part of being in a band. One time our bass player Derek went to swing his bass around but the strap lock decided to rip out of the guitar so his bass flew across the stage and slammed on the ground, it was pretty funny.
Your musical influences
My father, bands like MxPx, Slick Shoes, Blink 182, Craig's Brother, The Offspring, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, and a lot of other ones.
What equipment do you use?
Tama drums w/ Pacific and Gibralter hardware. Iron Cobra bass pedals, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks. Epiphone, Dillion, and Peavy guitars and basses. Hartke and Nemesis bass amps, Crate and Marshall guitar amps.
