Bio:
2540, started by Jeremy and Daniel Swain, played its first show toward the end of the school year in 1997 at King College. In the first two years the band had many member changes and was limited to playing locally. In the winter of 1998, 2540 was narrowed back down to Jeremy (guitar, vocals) and Daniel (drums), and they went on a search for members. In the spring they met Travis Bailey, who was a guitar player in a local band called "Upsideout," and they turned him into the bass player before he knew it. David Bunton, the drummer from Upsideout, often hung out with the band, and because he was always around, Jeremy figured he would teach Dave how to sing. ...and he did......well. For the latter part of the summer in 1999, this group practiced and played local shows, and in the fall of that year added second guitar player Josh Childers, who had been a former bass player early on. So Jeremy, Daniel, Travis, Dave, and Josh practiced up and played their first (and only) show together. Two days later Jeremy left the band. The remaining (and present) four members kept practicing together and started playing shows again. Jeremy's leaving at first meant Dave's would be the only vocals. This soon changed though as Daniel, Josh, and Travis all began to sing backup. 2540 got a van ("Willis") and began to traveling around and finally play shows away from home. They now play and practice regularly 2 or 3 times a week and have played more shows in more locations than ever; including opening up for Bulletproof recording artist One21 and playing at the Vans Warped Tour.
Mission:
We want to glorify God in all we do. Not that we always succeed in doing his will, but the Lord has given us a love for music and the gift to be able to play together as a group, strengthening our own friendships as well as reaching out to others by the grace of God. We are so happy to be doing something we love for the Lord.
