Z-Slim

Your life may seem like a fairytale compared to Ozzie Cox's (Z-SLIM). This young rapper is on the rise, with a bag full of true stories to tell. Born a 80s baby in Rockledge, Florida, Cox comes from 2 powerful Bahamian bloodlines. Life for Cox has been more downs than ups; he is one of three children left alone more than he dares to remember. Having to take on the role of parenthood for the sake of his sisters, made Cox a stronger person. In 1996 he was ordered to live with his father because of the ongoing drug problems his mother was battling. Maybe this was the break that Cox needed to make it through the hard times and the abusive relationships his mother always seemed to get herself into. Though the move wasn't all good it wasn't all bad either, Cox finally got to do something he had always loved, and that was play ball. Playing basketball was a gift Cox was born with and that same gift got him through Monsignor Pace Senior High School in Miami, where he played for Mark Lieberman. It was there that Cox led his team to a 25-10 record and a regional runner-up finish. He won numerous awards over the course of his career, including being named to the Mt. Dora Classic All-Tournament team, the Junior Orange Bowl All-Tournament, Dade County All-Star, and he received an honorable mention All-County defensive back. This same star quality got Cox into Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, Florida as quickly as his SAT scores got him out, but it will take a lot more than a test score to put this young soldier out the game. Cox will not be defeated; he has plans to sign up for another college to finish his education. These next chapters in Cox’s life will reveal the pain, trials, and tribulations through his music. The conviction in his voice will keep you so mesmerized that you will be lost for words; all you’ll be able to do is rewind the tracks for more. Cox raps about the pain of losing his two closest cousins, who both died in the Brevard County Jail, he also raps about his plead for a cure for HIV to save his aunts and grandmother. Like I mentioned in the beginning, this talented young man has a bag full of true stories to tell. As a youthful father determined to give his daughter a better chance at this life, Cox strategy is to become a mentor to less fortunate children and to stress the importance of book knowledge because “reading is fundamental.” Fame is not the reason for the deep rooted lyrics coming from the mind and heart of this dedicated rapper; the real issue is, he needs to get his sister some new legs, he needs to get his other sister in rehab, he needs to help find a cure for a deadly disease, and he needs to give the world this “Street Ministry.” So remember to keep your eyes and ears open for Mr. Ozzie Cox, who will be known to the rap world as Z-Slim. Listen to him once and I guarantee you’ll be begging for more. By Mary Teresa BestInterview.net Booking Info: 954-696-5821 or 321-917-3519
