Zentropia
Deeply constructed layers of effected guitars and noise are part of Zentropia's signature space sound. The band's atmospherically dark compositions blend mind-altering space rock with dub infected drum & bass.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Zentropia's founding members are guitarist and producer Mark Bray and bassist and percussionist Darcy Rowley. They began playing music together in 1992 when she joined his group, The Children, an improv rock band with a rotating line up of musicians from the local area around Muncie, Indiana. They formed Zentropia in 1994 and moved the band to New England in 1995. Their first CD, Beyond the Temporal Zone of Ambient Morphing, was released in 1997 with drummer Rick Bewersdorf.
In 1998 they released Zentropia II, a trip-hop inspired album. DEZIROTOM followed in 1999, which was a further exploration in the blending of avant rock and roots dub. Moving in a more ambient direction, Kinesthetic was released in 2000. It was the results of jam sessions with drummer Eric Beam of Vieris Creation.
In 2002, two years after relocating to Berkeley, the band released Zero Mass Calibration, four tracks of ambient drum & bass and deep, dark dub. Zentropia is currently working on a full length release which will be out in early 2003.
