Band/artist history
Ystervark is a four member band consisting of a vocalist, lead guitarist, drummer and bassist. They are an English modern rock band, based in Bloemfontein. Ystervark has been on the go since 2000. In November 2001, Ystervark released their first demo CD consisting of two tracks which received some airplay on 5FM and RSFM. In December 2001, Ystervark was featured on the local television channel KykNet as part of a programme titled "Die Mystic Bloem" and also "Heita!" on E-TV the following year. They have made enormous waves in the Free State and have an established fan base in this province. Being the most popular band in their region, they are rapidly building up a significant fan base throughout South Africa as well. On the 14th of February 2003 Ystervark performed at BURN in Durban where they were received very well and surprised many people with their outstanding performance. After this performance they were confirmed to appear at Splashy Fen 2003 and are the first band from the Free State, in the history of Splashy Fen, to ever perform there CASTLE LOUD has also discovered Ystervark's unique talent and became a major sponsor for Ystervark. This band is not your typical stereotyped "garage-band" but rather one that has achieved a unique state of professionalism in their short career - definitely a career to keep an eye on. They have much in store for South Africa in 2004 with an upcoming tour. Ystervark has just finished recording a 7 track Demo CD and intend releasing a full album shortly. Their Demo CD consists of a mixture between rock balads such as "FACE" and "LET ME KNOW", funk such as "LIVING IT UP" and "NATHAN" and then the slightly harder rock such as "CAN'T BREAK ME", "MEMORIES" and "SECRET PLACE". Pieter, Hardy, Pierre and PC are energetic and vibrant and this is clearly reflected in their music. Keep a watch out for them as this band is destined to go all the way
