Yellow Moon
This is a tribute page to Yellow Moon, an instrumental rocksteadyband playing coversongs from the Jamaican Jazz era. We're talking about Ernest Ranglin, Jackie Mittoo, Soul Dimension, etc.
Yellow Moon existed from summer 2004 till the winter of tghe same year. It was a typical shooting star band: moving up as fast as they fell down. They split up due to the inevitable personal difficulties.
Their line-up consisted of Roel (sax), Michel H (drums), Pieter VdS (keyboards), K-Man aka Slapstick Jr. (bass) and Timothy (gits/vox) and Niels (trumpet).
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Yellow Moon was an idea of Roel (sax) and Timothy (guitar), who both jammed together in Antwerp (B) since years. Conducting a chaotic lifestyle involving lots of alcohol, things were chaotic until they attracted me (K-mAn but called Slkapstick Jr. by Roel, on bass), Michel Heydt (drums) and Pieter Van Der Stighelen (keyboard), thus having a strong rhythm section. One month later trumpet player Niels Van Heumen (back then playing in Holland based In Julia's Mind Scene) was attracted and the line-up was complete. Things took off fast, rehearsing, gigging, and splitting up in 3 or 4 months time. A couple of recordings is all that's remained. After the split-up Michel, Pieter and K-Man joined subsequently Dustbow (backing up a Ghana reggaesinger) and reggae crossoverband . Michel and K-man to this day still play in Right Lane Ends.
Yellow Moon relived briefly without Roel early 2005, but the spirit was never the same. But Yellow Moon was a decisive formation in that it catalysed meeting other musicians that determined mine and Michel's musical journey.
