xerostratus
this is xerostratus, a southern california-based noise movement rife with absurdism and punk fervor. boredom and discontent fuel an array of different sounds and arrangements.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
suede? formed in Mrs. Martin's senior International Baccelaureate English class, following many in-class discussions of existentialism and absurdism. two years later, summer of 2005, suede? recorded their demo/e.p. entitled 'absurd rebellion'. the six, somewhat hastily arranged songs show the band's talent, but belie the true power and noise of the band.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
xerostratus has yet to play an actual venue, but has hosted several shows of its own in our practice space, as well as the new years party of 2005. our philosophy: free concert... keep big business out of it.
Your musical influences
60's psych, 70's rock, 80's punk and no wave, 90's grunge and hardcore, 00's noise.
What equipment do you use?
george plays a squire double fat strat through a crate amp, emmi plays bass, jason plays pacific drumkit, sabian cymbals(hi hat, 16" crash, 12" crash, 18" ride, wuhan cracked cymbal, vater sticks, authentic indian tabla; drew plays the voice through boss delay, phase shifter, flanger and line 6 delay modeler, as well as outright playing the delay pedals.
