Xbro is...
Multi-award winning visual artist R. David Price has brought his unique visions from the fine art world into the world of music. Recording under the bands name "Xbro", Price explores the sounds of his geographic roots in Texas and Arkansas found in the city that can claim both states, Texarkana. Brought up in this rich musical birthplace that lies at the crossroads of the two states mentioned as well as Oklahoma and Louisiana which exposed Price to his regional contemporaries, Scott Joplin, Conlon Nancarrow, Leadbelly, T-Bone Walker, Roy Orbison, Hoyt Axton, Don Henley, Whitehorse and more. Now through the work of Xbro, these audible visions finally reach the music world in the form of Rock and Roll with lots of outside fusions of Blues, Country, Funk, Jazz, Classical, Ambient, Punk, Swing and R&B thrown into the mix to form the experience that is Xbro.
January 2013 finds Xbro's music ranked #1 in his region for rock acts on the Reverbnation music charts with lots of new music scheduled for release this Spring. More youtube videos, and live appearances also are in the works. Having performed twice this month with the band Needleworm, Xbro continues to explore new grounds and 2013 is gonna be a blast!
So crank up your energy level and get creative with Xbro!
Rock Till Ya Drop!Band/artist history
In the beginning there was guitars...
and they were good....Have you performed in front of an audience?I play live somewhat rarely, I'm more of a songwriter/recording artist than a performer; that has started changing more in recent months.
Your musical influences
There is not enough space to include all of them, I'm a music junkie so I listen to all kinds from all eras. The obvious choices, Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, Rush, Toadies, Butthole Surfers, Stone Temple Pilots, Brian Johnstown Massacre, Buckethead, Joe Satriani, Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, Robin Trower, Jimmie Vaughn, Alvin Lee, Rory Gallagher, Rod Price, Chet AtkinsWhat equipment do you use?
Accoustics I play a 1960s Telestar I've owned since I started playing. Primarily I use a Ventura Dreadnaught with D' Addario strings on everything. Electric I play an old modified Silvertone Stratocaster that started as an unplayable creature that required much tweeking, it's name is Friga. I used to play a Kramer in the '80s now long gone as is my Gibson Les Paul. I later fell in love with Dean Guitars when my son bought a V. The necks are awesome with superb action, the whole ax is lightweight unlike the Les Paul which was like carrying around a bag of bricks. My Dean is named Hellga, it is a Ventura not a real high end guitar. But playing it in the store it sounded better than anything that was there the day I went shopping. It's been a love story ever since. What a great ax! I use a chorus pedal sometimes and often use a Digitech multi-effects pedal which runs through a Dean amplifier also a low-end model until that sponsor comes through with something better, hint hint....Anything else?
