This music is produced by one person on a laptop with the modern tools of music production. Its music that tends toward the quiet end of electronica: atmosphere with beats.
It's a bit unique in its emphasis on chordal progression and pad movement, often entirely lacking any lead line. In the more successful tunes a melody is implied more than defined.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
All kidding aside, I read an article in the NY Times that it was possible to stave off dementia, by exercising the brain by learning a language or a musical instrument. Having many years of playing and listening to music and employed in software development, I took the consolidating step of subjecting myself to the continuous learning of the many skills involved in home music production.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
This is a basement composition enterprise.
Your musical influences
most similar to Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Prefuse 73
influenced by a great many from Motown, British Invasion, psychedelic rock, folk rock, alt rock, punk rock and the synthesizer truly coming into its own
What equipment do you use?
I use an Edirol midi controller on a laptop computer packed with a wide assortment of synth and effect software. I have my favorites, like rhino and Absynth, but that may not really mean much to the wider world. For a host and hosting I use Cakewalk products, FLStudio and energyXT.
Anything else?
thanks for listening
