Wooden Horse
Wooden Horse are a hot new addition to the Spalding/Fenland local music curcuit. Performing covers reminiscent of great times in music history and also paying homage to the cream of todays musical crop, Wooden Horse are also an aspiring songwriting force in their own right, with a credible selection of originals that are swiftly gaining recognition amongst the local following.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Wooden Horse formed at the beginning of February 2004, and had their maiden gig on the 26th day of that month. Until the time of writing, the 'Horse have performed numerous live sets at local venues, and are steadily gaining a solid fan-base.
In August 2004 we recorded our first studio EP, and also produced a live recording to supplement this release.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play live at local venues. It is an experience to say the very least... and one that is enjoyed by band members and dedicated fans alike. Special moments??? An entirely packed venue chanting 'Horse Horse Horse' has to be up there somewhere... as is playing alongside singed Chester-based band 'The Wayriders'.
Your musical influences
Wooden Horse are very much a guitar driven band. The style of the guitars is reminiscent of axe-slinging greats such as Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan and Billy Corgan.
There is also a strong bass prescence in the originals, paying homage to the likes of John Paul Jones and Jeff Ament.
Current main influences include: Led Zeppelin, REM, The Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, and British Sea Power.
What equipment do you use?
Guitars: Epiphone Semi-Hollow, Epiphone Les Paul.
Bass: Fender Prescision Lyte.
Drums/Percussion: Whatever the support band has.
Anything else?
"Trojans, do not trust the horse..." yada yada yada.
