It all began in January of 1999 when Phil, Todd, Eddie, and Mike got together in a basement in New Market, Virginia and decided to play some music for fun. By February we had been asked to perform on a compilation CD of local artists in upcoming April. We had already started composing our own music with Todd pulling double duty on bass guitar and vocals. An add was placed in several papers for a lead singer, and after many auditions Mike was added to the team. The chemistry couldn't be stopped and after only two practices with Mike we were in the studio recording our first song, "Tangled Web". After the completing those performances, we decided to go back into "hiding" and write some more material. And in August of 2000 we emerged from two sessions at Alive Recording Studios with our promotional CD "When You Fall". Tangled Web was re-recorded for this CD and accompanied with the songs: Substitute, When You Fall, Fallen Angel, Dying Side of Reign, and Dry. Fallen Angel, a power ballad, quickly became the favorite to all who listened. During the making of these songs is when we picked up are final partner in this musical venture, Travis. Currently we are ready to get back into a studio and do a full length CD with a strong collection of newer material. Xtreme Sports is currently looking for more opportunities for our music. Music from our When You Fall CD was featured on Pertersons 4Wheel & Off-Road extreme video, the Ultimate Adventure 2001.

WINGS OF MERCY are just dripping with talent potential, let me make that VERY clear. So, why then am I not giving them a five rating? Something in the production value seems off to me. Might be my copy but it seems like more production time was spent on tracks 3, 4 and 5 than tracks 1, 2 and 6 which is not to say that the songs are not of equal caliber. They are. It just seems like the production values are uneven or they are two different sessions. "Substitute" and "When You Fall" are solid rockers with great guitar work and powerful vocals from Mike Stickle but "Fallen Angel" (track 3) has a production that brings out the strength in performance, writing and depth that this band is capable of pulling off. The same can be said of "Tangled Web" and "Dying Side Of Reign". They all have a clearer and all around fuller production and Stickle's voice, particularly on "Fallen Angel" displays just how great this singer can be. The final track, "Dry" is a strong finisher but the production betrays it a bit. Don't get me wrong here. I like this CD a lot and it is well worth your cash. It is kinda like an Oreo cookie. Two hard ends with pure creamy magic in the middle. I want to hear more and I hope that will happen. I hope the band will embrace that middle production value. It suits them like a pair of WINGS...OF MERCY. Reviewed By Michael McKenzie Roaar Magazine also gave our cover art 3rd place in their awards issue and debuted "When You Fall" at number 8 on their unsigned band chart! Yes we did manage to make it all the way to number 1 "When You Fall - CD Review Rating: 7.5/10 Some time ago I reviewed the 3-track demo CD of this band from Virginia, USA. They now sent me the complete demo CD with 6 songs of which I already discussed 3 tracks. Musically WINGS OF MERCY has created an own style that contains elements of AOR/Melodic Rock (80s) and Heavy Rock (90s). The 3 new songs are the slower melodic rockers "Substitute" and "When you fall" and closing track "Dry" (a nice uptempo melodic rocker). Their live set also includes covers of JOURNEY and NIGHT RANGER and on the other hand bands like ALICE IN CHAINS, so there you have the reason why this band sounds so unique with their melodic updated heavy rocksound. Check out this band at: http://www.wingsofmercy.com and e-mail them at: theband@wingsofmercy.com Review by: Gabor Kleinbloesem, Editor of Strutter'Zine WINGS OF MERCY, quartetto che si esibisce in tre canzoni curate ed eseguite in modo molto professsionale.
