This is the webpage of Will Anderson, an upcoming saxophone/clarinet/flute player who is currently attending the 4-year Jazz Studies Program at the Juilliard School in New York City.
Will grew up in the Washington DC area with his family and along side his twin brother, Pete, who also plays saxophone. Will was very fortunate to have Paul Carr, a local saxophone pro, as a dedicated teacher and mentor to allow him to fufill his potential as a jazz perfomer. He was drawn to the sounds of Johnny Hodges, Charlie Parker, Sonny Stitt, and many others. At the age of 14, will was given the oppurtunity to tour the United Kindom with a traditional jazz band. Throughout highschool Will has had the oppurtunity of performing with many revered jazz artists including Christian McBride, Terrel Stafford, Wessel Anderson, Tim Warfield, and Branford Marsalis.
Before Graduating from Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD, will was named to multiple all-state and all-eastern ensembles on clarinet and alto sax. Recently In 2005, he was the Second-Place Fish Middleton Scholarship Winner at the East Coast Jazz Festival, recieved a jazz soloist award in downbeat magzine, was a two-time ARTS Honorable Mention Jazz winner, and played lead alto in the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. He often performs with his twin brother, Pete, who is also attending the Juilliard Jazz Program.
