Hello! Welcome to the world of Wide-Eyed.
You may ask, "So, Where exactly am I?"
Well, you're in a place that is full
of music always, that is always the rule.
This music will push and will pull,
And you will ask, who is playing the fool?
Some lush moments filled with beauty,
Some crazy moments, even a bit quirky,
Some dark moments of truth and reality,
Some surreal moments of cartoonish insanity.
So, if you find that you like these sounds,
then we know your artistic appreciation abounds.
Because we believe that first comes the song,
Then all of the rest will naturally follow along.
But, if you find this music is not pleasing,
You must ask yourself: "why am I wheezing?"
Is it because you hear purposeful imperfections,
or because it avoids common connections?
So, we'd like you to listen again and again,
Because we would like us to all be friends.
Not just like in a silly children's song,
but a place where real people can really get along.
Before you go, we would just like to say,
most of all, we hope you enjoyed your stay.
Band/artist history
We committed ourselves to this project in late 1998. As a result, we chose to move to a new part of the U.S. (new to us, at least). This new location brought new ideas, as desired.
The first step we chose was to go straight to recording our first album. We began this process on a cassette 4-track. In the end, we selected a Tascam 788, but still kept analog alive in other ways.
We've enjoyed the luxury of taking our time developing this album. We finished recording in May of this year. We are now beginning recording for our second album, Maven.
Also, have we mentioned that we would like to play live? We'd really like to meet a drummer who could help us with this, 'cause we like drums.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We need a drummer, and then we will.
Your musical influences
Even this obnoxiously long list is just a small cross-section, in no particular order: Jimi Hendrix (ok, we DO want him first), The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Ween, XTC, Sebadoh, Failure, Beethoven, The Cure, Lush, Outkast, Built to Spill, John Coltrane, The Cocteau Twins, Supergrass, Eminem, Bjork, Guided by Voices, Spiritualized, James Brown, Mozart, Blur, My Bloody Valentine, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, the Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Dave Grohl, Angelo Badalamenti, P.J. Harvey, Debussy, Sunny Day Real Estate, Billie Holiday, Dead Can Dance, Sky Cries Mary, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, Pearl Jam, Melissa Auf Der Maur, QOTSA, Run DMC, Beatles
Anything else?
We believe each song has its own personality. So make sure you get to know each song before you judge it. One last thing that we recommend for a long and healthy life: ALWAYS BE OPEN TO NEW MUSIC!
I listened and like your music, it's different, so I don't think that you ever have to worry about being pegged into a category. It's recorded and played well, and I like the lyrics esp. "Beyond the smokescreen, what comes into focus, is the thing you are without", and the multiple meaning to "If you fall for me, will you land on your feet". Sorry to read about your cat (Linus). The first time that I moved away from home, what I missed the most, was our dog, so I know how important they become.

Oh, I love the first song... I think I'm going to download it. I like all your compositions, they all sound good and very emotional. Where do you record your music at?
Much love,
KSandra

Len Jennings of Garageband.com gave a very flattering review of Thud, I'd like to share it with you: "Thud" Nice Lyrical Work Nice job singing Tina! Kinda reminded me of Liz Phair's first CD. This one has some nice phrasing. Loved the lyrics and what the story is about. Though most folks have to review blind. Even still, the song lyrics have some nice duality in their meaning. This is good because people can claim this song and make it their own. (I always dictate too much in my lyrics - and don't leave much room for interpretation. So I come off sounding cliche a lot of times.) Anyway, nice lyrical work here. Now, in contrast to "Break" I don't like the outro here. It doesn't really add to an otherwise pretty decent tune. I'd fade it out after about 15 seconds. Or add some vocal "oohs or ahhs or something to keep it interesting. Other than that this one is pretty solid. 4.5 stars from me. Oh, is the little line about being wide eyed at the end of the song where you get your n
