Paul Allgood,Baxter Smith, and Lee Whitsel formerly comprised Chapel Hill, North Carolina's electro pop outfit Wedlock. They are best described as a combination of new disco, techno pop, and digital funk. They carved their own niche in the local dance scene with live instrumentation, while also incorporating strong personal and sometimes politically charged lyrics. Their full length,Continuity, was released in October 2009 and January 2010 saw Paul Allgood and Wedlock writing and producing The Blameless Ep for singer Br'yanna Rain as well as the release of their own latest EP in August.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Paul Allgood and Jeff Hathaway originated Wedlock and the two of them collaborated to release the Matrimony Ep and a pair of singles, "Cuts Both Ways", and "Discopharma" before deciding on different directions.During the remixing of "Cuts" Minneapolis keyboardist Jj Kidder took a liking to the project and joined with Allgood to form a live outfit. Bassist Kirk Bryson and drummer Ana Mitchell now make up Wedlock as a full on band.Their first full length release, "Exogamy" was released in April on Kounterfeit records. After disbanding, Allgood reformed with bassist Lee Whitsel and keyboardist BC Smith. They released "Continuity" in October 2009 , and followed it up by releasing the "Witnesses"EP in August 2010.
