Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
An indifferent sociopathic friend I once had played a plethora of experimental eletronic music when I hung out with him. Since he was a dick he wouldnt tell me who the artists were except for Aphex Twin, Autechre and Mu-ziq, so I had to find out the rest for myself. From then on I found out who all the artists were that I was listening to, the labels they were on , the other artists they would collaborate with and so on. After much accumilation of such information I realized this was a growing multi-branching form of music. It wasnt called IDM then, just 'experimental electronic' and 'ambient techno'. As the styles and technology got more sophisticated, these said music branches grew out more and more creating more styles and hybrids. At his time I was getting more and more inquisitive about how these music forms were made. I knew at least it was totally unconventional and required almost no musical training to make these types of music. But I hadnt the slightest clue to what was used, I bought a Roland MC-303 and it was so alien to me that I couldnt get my head around it, or recreate the styles i was interested in. I could not afford a computer, I actually was not impressed with computers at first because their level of software ability was barely above Rebirth or Acid at the time. I collected all of the Korg Eletribes and theywere so intuitive and instantly gratifying that I used them for a few years and started to record onto cd-rs with them. I learned to sync up with midi cables. I then started to fiddle with Playstation Mtv music generator and learned a new form of song construction and then got a bootleg copy of Fruity Loops 3.5. That changed everything. The sound canvas was limitless and the level of audio editing was deep, or until your computer crashed. I was hooked and started to build my own computer which right now I am typing on . I started to buy software like Spectral Delay, Reaktor, Recycle, Wavelab and so on. I was having a blast but my pc was overwhemed by having too much software so then I started to buy loads of samples and tried to learn midi from my pc to my hardware. I also got a Hp zd7000 laptop at this time. It took quite a while to be able to hook up gear to my pc but I finally learned and went buckwild with buying midi synth modules and drum machines. I was very satisfied at this point and then fell into the mundane and tedious art of eq-ing and compressing just about everything. Collected more gear, sold some, gave some to people and then stumbled upon circuitbending, woah... Abandon what you think music gear is capable of when you hear what circuitbending can do. The ability to revitalize an old and worthless drummachine to a customized synthesizer. Now a days I have hoarded quite a bit of gear including analog/cv gear which is also another endeavour in music making. I am getting older a wiser and balder. I am still learning......
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I always play live.
