In This Room All Alone In This Room All Alone

An upbeat walk down memory lane. Remembering the good times shared with a loved one.

Country General

Award winning Country/Country Blues band from Oklahoma, Through their music, Way Station sings of everything from happiness and love, sadness and pain, the acceptance of what can't be changed, and the knowledge that "a good friend is hard to find". They know all the right words to capture each emotion. Way Station, a trio from Oklahoma, offers alternative country listening. By "alternative" I mean no rock pretensions, no synthetic sounds, no jumping on anybody's bandwagon. What Way Station offer is satisfying acoustic guitar / harmony. Though "Let's Tear Down The Wall" sounds somewhat aggressive there is no aggression whatsoever in the music. This is the stuff you want to lay back to. All you need is a fine wine and a loving woman, Way Station will do the rest with songs like "Can I See You Tonight", "Love Me Tonight", "Friends", "You've Got Me Wanting You" and "You Look So Fine". An album I find myself drawn to again and again. Written by Pete Smith, this review also appears in the May issue of "Country Music Round Up".
Band/artist history
Way Station was started in 1982 with just two members, Carey Jones who brought with him the Country influence, and Mike Tipton who supplied the Rock influences. Through a blending of their styles and vocals, they came up with their own unique sound. In 1983, Buster Neal joined the group as drummer. On their first CD, titled "Way Station", they were joined by Matt Tipton, Mike's son, as a paid Bass player. He had played with them previously and was familiar with their style and songs. They also hired Chad Coursey, a Champion Fiddle player, to play on the album. They have played for charity groups such as Toys for Tots. Songfest in Paris, Texas. Blues Jam in Paris, Texas, and numerous public activities. Carey, Mike, and Buster are still together proving that good friends and good music are timeless.
