Sort of metal. Sort of not. First real try with Superior Drummer 2.0. Bulb presets. If you like it, help me name it.

My name is Jonathan, my friends call me Wood. This project is a compilation of song ideas and works in progress to be put to use someday.
I used to write songs using a simple guitar tab program called Tab It. It used MIDI sound and, well, sounded horrible. Now that I've discovered FL Studio 9, and can make quality sounding tracks, I'm getting back into songwriting in hopes of getting into film scoring, sound and music production for video games, etc.
Not at all. I play in front of my computer and record whatever sounds good to me at the moment.
While my favorite kinds of music are punk rock and metal, I draw a ton of inspiration from a broad array of music, including jazz and video game soundtracks. My music draws a lot from Thrice (their later music), Dillinger Escape Plan (their softer parts), Cursive, Radiohead, Strung Out, some of the more folk-sounding punk bands, and music from games such as Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger and Silent Hill.
I enjoy ambient sounds, haunting melodies, interesting chords, complex time signatures and lots of odd noises and sound effects, many of which I have yet to figure out how to create.
I play a Gibson SG through a Line 6 PODxt, using Gearbox to work with presets. I record on FL Studio 9 Producer's Edition (but will be giving Sonar a go sooner or later), and when not using the Line 6 PODxt as my external interface, I use a MobilePre USB interface. I also have a MicroKorg XL synthesizer which I also use as a MIDI controller.
None of the songs on this site are complete versions of anything, or performed by a specific band. They are just songs I've come up with or ideas I'm playing around with. I plan to post a lot more, and really hope that people listen and comment. Aside from playing guitar and making up songs, I'm pretty new to recording music, especially the more technical it gets. Tips and critiques are much appreciated.
