Alternative Spanish Rock is what the boys from Voz Elemental bring to the table. Voz Elemental was formed in 2002 when singer-songwriter Karl Montiel and lead-guitarist Kenny Noriega met through a musicians newspaper. They formed a band and were soon joined by drummer Carlos Moreno and bassist Craig Baxter. In the beginning they changed their name a couple of times, and after a short period as Sombra (Shadow), they decided to call themselves Voz Elemental, which means Elemental Voice. They recorded some demos, which lead them to perform for Los Angeles Spanish super station 107.1 Super Estrella's Cinco Minutos de Fama receiving a very positive response from listeners. Voz Elemental was also nominated for an Orange County Music Award in the Best Latin Contemporary category. And then charts on R&R Inc. (Radio and Records)s Spanish/Alt chart with Vida de Mi Vida, receiving notable airplay on Miamis WRTO. It remains on the chart for the entire summer, topping off at Number 10. Voz Elemental has had television appearances on both Univisions Despierta San Diego in San Diego and on Telemundos KWHY Channel 22 De Todo Un Poco show in Los Angeles , then went on to performs on the Universal Amphitheaters Sirius Stage opening for Alejandra Guzman.Have you performed in front of an audience?The band plays live almost all the time anywhere they get offered. It all depends on the place and promotion behind the event.
The band has had lots of great shows in the past. They have shared the stage with various artists such as Alejandra Guzman,Gerardo, Tom Morrison, Curanderos and Ana Sidel to name a few in the Spanish rock scene.
Your musical influences
Voz Elemental are considered by others has an original band that write and compose there own songs. Many have said it’s a mix of U2, INXS, Duran Duran, Simple Minds and Soda Stereo.What equipment do you use?
