Vore is a death metal band from Fayetteville Arkansas.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
VORE hails from the Ozark Mountains of Northwestern Arkansas. The group was formed in 1994 after guitarists/vocalists Page Townsley and John Voelker decided to leave their previous band named MAUSOLEUM. John and Page had spent three years writing and performing together in that band and shared the vision of a more focused, dedicated and technically proficient outfit. They formed VORE with drummer Brian Marcinkiewicz in June of 1994. Marcinkiewicz was replaced by drummer Remy Cameron in 2002.
VORE draws upon death, thrash and traditional metal influences to create an onslaught of brute power and heaviness. Generally playing at a mid-tempo pace, their rhythm based style is built around strong crushing riffs and songcraft over pure speed, setting them apart from current trends in death metal. Over this soundscape, themes of doom, darkness, conquest and sorcery are laid down by two distinctly different vocalists, adding further flavor to the bands sound. The inclusion of acoustic instrumentals like Albion and Opaque on their recordings show VORE's diversity and spirit of experimentation.
VORE recorded its first demo in 1995 called To Devour which sold around 400 copies. It was a roughly produced home-duped six song cassette that was sold mainly at local shows. The few that were sent out for review won praise for the band and the anticipation of more to come. In 1997 VORE released their professionally recorded MCD Dead Kings Eyes. The six track disc sold more than 1,500 copies worldwide, bringing them a multitude of favorable reviews in the metal underground press . With Dead Kings Eyes, VORE firmly established themselves in the international metal underground. They have also appeared on several different compilations such as Dwell Record's 1999 Sepultura Tribute World of Pain on which VORE provided their own churning take on the song Inner Self .
2001 saw the release of VORE's new ten track full length album Lord of Storms . From the total death metal assaults of Godslayer and Host of Abominations to the acoustic piece Opaque and the epic Primordial Conquest, Lord of Storms is a culmination of almost seven years of VORE striving to refine and perfect their style while still staying true to their original vision of heaviness.
Within the live realm, VORE crushes with their thunderous sonic assault and tight energetic performance. They create a virulent atmosphere and a headbanging mosh pit frenzy generally ensues. Their strengths as a live act have earned them a steadily growing following . VORE has played with bands such as DEICIDE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, JUNGLE ROT, SIX FEET UNDER, MANOWAR, HALFORD, CANNIBAL CORPSE, NILE, MONSTROSITY, MORBID ANGEL and performed on the main stage at the 1999 Milwaukee Metalfest. They want to travel and play as often as possible and expose their music to new audiences. The members of VORE are fully pledged to the fulfillment of these goals and the ultimate success of the band.
VORE is currently hard at work writing material for their next release.

Yes. Vore has played in Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

There are many different influences that make up Vore coming from many different genres like Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Classical/Symphonic music & Doom. We never set out to copy one band. We're all influenced by different things and we all have different opinions about what bands we admire or dispise.
