This concert already presented several times, by much more numerous groups, even in places of prestige, such as the Milanese Basilicas of San Marco and San Lorenzo, as the Concert for Peace has always strongly involved the public, from an emotional point of view, and has achieved great success, both in connection to the quality and the diverse types of music, as well as to the themes brought forward, and to its moral aim, which is proving the feasibility of peace. In fact, the concert stirs up a melting pot of cultures, different to one another yet akin, that are currently at odds with one another. The music gives way to close relationships, delving into affinity and diversity, accomplishing mutual paths. The programme offers ethnical Jewish and Arabic music, (as it was originally composed or with specially accomplished arrangements), illustrated with the help of diverse readings, accompanied by four or eight musicians. A kind of musical map on which Jerusalem an incomparable city, so much sanctified and desecrated appears on a journey that starts off in the desert and from Abraham (the father of Ishmael and Isaac, of the Arabs and of the Jews), goes on through temples and remote regions, extolling diverse aspects of universal and individual life, and comes to an end in golden Jerusalem, with the hopes for restored goodwill. The project is the outcome of a fortuitous acquaintance of two musicians: Eyal Lerner, Israeli, and Ghazi Makhoul, Lebanese, both residing in Italy. Basing themselves upon an instinctive musical bent, a deep friendship of theirs came to life, with reciprocal artistic and personal experience, perceiving several aspects they had in common: a love for western classical music and for the ethnical genre representative of their origin, grief due to a never-ending war, the conditioning imposed by a highly dramatic social and spiritual situation, in which modernity and tradition often clash, thus bringing about hope for a prosperous future
