Voiceks Voiska
Voiceks Voiska was the first band in Latvia to play ska music and still is the best known ska band in Latvia. Unlike many non-english ska bands Voiceks Voiska sings only in their native language - Latvian. The band does not strictly stick to some subgenre of ska - while most of the music can be described as two-tone ska, the band also takes brief excursions into punkrock, russian rock music, latino music and other styles. Formed under a name Voiceks as a solo project of lead singer Jourelis the band is around from year 1993. In 1998 band began to experiment with ska music and soon changed the name to Voiceks Voiska. The band released its first album Konvojs only in year 2004, and currently is working on a follow-up.Have you performed in front of an audience?We do and we love it. Latvia is a pretty small country, so there are only few places to play - club Depo (www.klubsdepo.lv) being the most frequented. The band is also looking for any opportunities to play outside Latvia.
Your musical influences
All the different kinds of ska, from traditional Jamaican ska to 3rd wave punk ska. It's hard to draw any similarities with other ska bands, since the songs played by Voiceks Voiska is very different.Admin
