Vis Vires

Vis Vires is a solution to a problem. The goal: An effective combination of artistic, proficiently written and performed music and an energetic, entertaining live performance. Vis Vires was spawned from the idea that a live performance should not be a duplication of the experience of an artist's album, but rather a different experience or expression of the art in question. If concertgoers wanted to hear a CD, chances are they would have stayed at home and listened to it. Fans come to a live performance to see another side of the band. They expect to hear the songs on the album, but they also expect (or should expect) more. Rock n roll is in a sad state when uncreative, oversimplified bands are putting on the only exciting live shows. Vis Vires proves you can do both.
Band/artist history
In 2004 Vis Vires called its subjects from the corners of the southeastern United States to Atlanta, GA (the Mecca of the south). Two road-tested graduates from the Atlanta Institute of Music were the first to come together: Alexi Aleister - a nationally acclaimed, degree bearing guitar deity and the embodiment of heavy metal in the south, and Chad Gilbert - a seasoned professional rock drummer who can hold a solid beat even with the rest of the band falling into his drum set. Alexi and Chad were soon joined by experienced musician, concert promoter, soundman, and mechanical genius Lee. The lineup was solidified by the arrival of long time Florida underground rock scene personality and rhythm guitar speed queen Willy Bolander. After just one month of rehearsing, the band began a vigorous weekend concert schedule. Currently, the band has just returned from a break in which they recorded their debut album (Inside the Hate), which is being sent to record labels, management groups, and booking agents at this very moment. They took some time over the holidays to learn more about music as a business and since the albums completion Vis Vires has resumed an extensive concert schedule and has already began the composition of their next album, which they plan to release by the end of 2005.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live all the time, all across the southeastern United States. The live stage is our forte. Loud heavy metal mayhem with reckless abandon. A special moment... bassist Lee charged an Alabamian crowd laying waste to one unfortunate concertgoer's face. The boy and his broken face bought a CD.
Your musical influences
Various expressions of metal, rock, punk, classical, jazz, noise, etc.
What equipment do you use?
Rotosound strings, Peavey Amps/Cables, LTD/Fender guitars, Peavey Bass, Yamaha Drums, Ziljian Cymbals
