Virgil Avery
Virgil Avery is a genre-busting artist who creates a vivid cinematic world of skewed Americana in both his music and computer animations, both of which can be enjoyed on his new CD "An Edge View of Night".
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I sometimes play in a ghost town called Philadelphia.
Your musical influences
Influences range from Johnny Cash to the Sex Pistols, the only common thread is the music must be guitar-driven and have an emotional impact. some other influences are; Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bowie, X, Iggy Pop, Chris Isaak, Rockabilly, Surf, and REAL country music.
What equipment do you use?
Only real hand-played instruments are used in Virgil Avery recordings, the favorite being a 1963 Harmony archtop with De'Armonds and a Bigsby that's been glued back together about eight times, but every time it gets a little stronger.
