Vincent Gross
"This is what We Do!"
Music for all occassions.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Vincent Gross swings and sings with rhythym and soul along today's jazz vanguard. He has worked in television, theater, and the recording industry, which all help to fuel the ongoing success of jazz music. His discography continues to lengthen as he has appeared on several releases, including projects by Mark Gross, "The Gospel According to Mark," Bob Peckman featuring Vincent Gross, "Alone Together." His own project entitled, "Vincent Street" to be released at the end of this year 2006 features the newly released single, "A Spring Affair."
His consistently professional musicianship has led to live and recorded efforts with many of his fellow pace setters in jazz music. Vincent has toured and played at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the Japan Jazz Festival and the Down Beat Jazz Festival, to name a few. He has toured Japan with the Mark Conese Quintet and with Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers. Vincent has played and recorded with such musicians as JJ Johnson, Jimmy McGriff, Gary Bartz, Antonio Hart, Cyrus Chestnut, Gary Thomas, Sarah Vaughan, Mulgrew Miller, Mark Witfreid, Delfayo Marsalis, Philip Harper, and The Temptations.
Vincent credits his ecclectic sound to the rich appeciation for gospel music that resounded through his parent's Baltimore home where his dad played tenor sax, mother played piano and drums, and his sisters and brothers played sax, drums and guitar. Vincent's father is still the pastor of his hometown church, Mt. Zion Congregation. After developing his interest in jazz music at Baltimore's High School, Vincent studied three years at the Peabody Conservatory and two years at the University of Maryland, and is still learning, developing, and exploring as a professional musician.
