Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Rising from a shower of hurled drum sticks, kicked-in amplifiers and sexually demeaning insults hails: Vile Addiction, a truly unique quartet from the north east of England.
Destroying clichés and booting close minded, elitist, genre defining guide lines square in the nuts, our sound is raw, dirty, melodic, uplifting, moody and powerful. Quite spectacularly, all at the same time!
If all had gone to plan, Vile Addiction would not exist and in its place would be Incendiary Device, a hardcore punk band that split rather unceremoniously and prematurely.
Dave “Studd” Shotton, a towering, earth quake inducing, bearded brick shit house hell bent on musical devastation (as long as no one’s feelings get hurt in the process) attempted to reform I.D., recruiting Penelope Rose Hann, the constantly on time, making mistakes “on purpose”, princess of power, galloping forth from the bowels of hell astride a mighty steed, on drums and Robert “Bru” Brooks, a sick minded, six string suicide evil genius, forever barred from pet’s corners and farm yards the world over, on guitar.
Original I.D. vocalist, Chris Spencer, sang in the earliest incarnation of Vile Addiction, and a guy Dave met at work, Paul Hinds, was on axe duty. Neither worked out long term, so Paul “The CLR Machine” Crinnion, quite simply, the most charismatic man in rock since David Lee Roth, was sent to us on the wings of a unicorn, accompanied by a flock of goblins, chalices aloft, scissor kicking and back flipping their way through an acoustic rendition of Van Halen’s “Jump”
Or something like that.
Now, we continue to create, embellish, enlighten, unite the masses and bicker endlessly at one another in the way only a family can, whilst dreaming of Rock God (and Goddess) world domination.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
