VeRb is a Hip-Hop group consisting of two artists. Mario F. Villanueva a.k.a. TexT (19 years old) and Matthew T. Trevarthen a.k.a. X-It (20 years old). Together they make instrumentals, poetry, lyrics, expressions, feelings, and art which they like to call VeRb.
VeRb has been together for 8 years. Not always been called VeRb but through trials and tribulations they have come to this name. Through their music they express different situations and real feelings that they experience in their real lives. You can only conclude that their style, sound, and imagine is all original, ask anyone who’s heard VeRb and they will tell you the same.
VeRb is 100% independent. From instrumentals to lyrics all the way to production. The instrumentals are created through a program called fruity loops. The lyrics that VeRb speak are not just words but feelings that are created from late nights and long days. “If we say it, then we lived it.” Production is another story. TexT and X-It have built a recording booth in the basement a.k.a. The L.I.P. Equipped with a professional studio microphone, a pop-stopper, and mixing board all hooked up to a home P.C., they make hit after hit with the sound of professional quality. VeRb stays up ‘til the early hours of the morning mixing down sessions so the next day they can get right back in The L.I.P. to make another hit.
VeRb has done numerous shows. From charity events to clubs to school dances and talent shows. VeRb performs at these shows not knowing how the audience will react but nevertheless VeRb gives it 110% and they end up being accepted everywhere. For instance most of the shows VeRb has performed at 99% of the acts have been rock, and that 1%left, VeRb, is the only Hip-Hop act there. And it has been said, “VeRb stole the show.” Even though VeRb works and records for free so far, X-It and TexT sell c.d.’s to give back to the community (Relay -4- Life 2002 and 2003).
To sum it all up, even though VeRb has been influenced by 2Pac to Dr. Dre to Busta Rhymes to Marvin Gaye to Stevey Ray Vaughn and many other artists, they stay true to themselves. What they make is Hip-Hop. Not Rap, not Pop-Hop but Hip-Hop. True feelings and emotions that only VeRb knows how to make.
