Verbal Quick

Take Eminem's wit and lyricism, mix it with Too Short's lewdness, add the arrogance of Jay-Z, and you have Verbal Quick.

Up and coming rap artist Verbal Quick was raised in Motown. He began rapping in 1995 with guys who he met up with in college, and they formed a group known as the Devious MCs. Fast forward 7 years to 2002, Verbal and two of his best friends formed a new group which they dubbed The High Society. Late fall of 2003, Verbal decided it would be best for him to leave the group and start performing on his own at open mics in Detroit in order to increase his name recognition as well as improve his stage presence. His music is a tribute to the artists he grew up listening to, such as N.W.A., Luke and 2 Live Crew, AMG, and the late Tupac Shakur, just to name a few. Verbal is a throwback to what "street" hip hop was before it became advertising for the material life. "I don't have diamonds, I don't ride on 20s, but that doesn't stop life from being fun on a daily basis for me! If you need those things to make you happy, then you'll never have true happiness. I rap about things that I've experienced, sex, drugs, and life growing up in the Murder Capital."

I performed every Thursday night at Napoleon's Retreat for 6 months. I love performing for the crowd, especially the females! Every chance I get to bless the mic for an appreciative audience full of my thug n**** and beautiful women of Detroit is a special moment to me.

I have a wide range of musical influences, although the ones that are going to stand out more once my album is out are Eminem, Too Short, Luke and the 2 Live Crew, Dr. Dre, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, etc. I grew up on R&B and rap, so I pull a lot of inspiration from those genres, as well as a little rock. I'm a music fan in general, but I love rap!
