Vela is a husband and wife dreampop duo from Indiana. In 1999 Jason and Kate Robbins were driven to create a unique sound that would set their band apart from the mainstream, but at the same time would captivate a wide range of fans. The band knew that by bringing in a variety of their influences and cultivating them into a single entity, it would evoke a sense of familiarity and acceptance in their listeners. This sonic singularity is fueled by emotionally charged lyrics, intricate bass lines, layers upon layers of processed guitar sounds and Kate Robbins beautiful, ethereal vocals.
The sound of Vela is a breath of fresh air for those who long to hear something with substance and a creative edge. Jason Robbins guitar sounds glide together with Kates celestial melodies to create a shoegazing sound that cradles the listener into a dreamy soundscape. However, this otherworldliness is far from lethargic. Velas music is very much like a tightly-woven, dynamic wall of sound that brings something new to the listener every time the bands music is heard.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
The band no longer plays live. However, vela is still actively writing and recording new material.

oh boy the new song is GREAT! wow. i'm glad this site is here because when mp3.com went away before there was a void, and now i'm finding great music again!
I like your new song "Arborescent".
MagentaRose and I have been studying astral travel and learning to open our chakras and your music will help in the background with some incense.
Very impressive. Sometimes meditation music can be too relaxive and may well put a person to sleep.
But your music can stimulate the mind and put you in an alternate state of mind to the right degree.
Everyone learning to travel in the higher realms should try listening to Vela's music. No matter what path you may be on. It is wonderful and pleasing to the ears.
Blessed Be,
Marlevane
I love this music.
You guys sound so much more professional than the other bands here.
Keep playing towards the heavier guitar side of music!
