Valerie Shaw
I am a Canadian girl that fell in love with music at an early age. I sang in church choirs, then in school, I sang in plays, and began to take lessons. After a year of lessons, I joined a school for performing arts, and continued singing in various choirs. When I went to university, I met a few friends who were interested in starting a band, so I then sang in two bands, and started to teach myself to play the guitar.
I do not care as much about being 'good' at music as I do about being 'able'...I love music in all its varied forms, and I hope to continue to grow as an artist and as a human being.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I reluctantly play live...I am a little shy...but once I start, I enjoy myself.
Your musical influences
I started out listening to classical music, then I had a fondness for jazz...now I prefer a slightly edgier sound, so my influences are eclectic, and not always present in the music.
What equipment do you use?
