A song based on John 13
Simple songs that I hope will touch the heart of God, and maybe a few other people in the process.
I may never make it to Nashville, and I may never be on the radio, but that's okay. That's not why I do what I do. I do what I do because I understand things best when I get them down in rhyming lines set to music. I do what I do because I believe that my Heavenly Father enjoys the songs that few hear just as much as He enjoys the songs that everyone hears. I do what I do because it's one of the best ways I know how to worship God, encourage friends, and uplift the body of Christ.

Story behind the song
I wrote this song after my youth minister discussed with me the possibility of our youth group leading worship one Sunday. He wanted us to sing one of my songs, and he told me the focus would be on John 13, when Jesus washes the disciples' feet. In that story, Peter always fascinated me, so the story in the song is told largely from his perspective. To a great degree, it was also written for my youth minister and his wife, for they have exemplified Jesus' heart of a servant in my life.
Lyrics
I’ve seen the miracles You’ve done I remember water turned to wine I know You are God’s only Son Blessed by His wonderful design But here You stand before me Towel around Your waist Basin in Your callused hands Love shown on Your face You kneel and You bow Your head Oh, please would You explain? What are You doing? What are You doing? Chorus: And You wash away the dirt Of another long day When the King becomes the Servant And the Master the Slave Then You look into my eyes And tenderly You say “Do as I have done until The world has passed away” How could I warrant such a love? I’ve rebuked and questioned You, my Lord You should be reigning from above Not stooping to serve sinners so poor But here I sit before You Watch You cleansing me Water’s dripping from Your hands On my dirty feet I speak and You shake Your head I still can't understand I don't deserve this I don't deserve this. Chorus Tag: “Do as I have done until The world has passed away”
