Christ centered songs written by Dan Simmons...the best Gospel and inspirational A.I. music on the internet!
"firesong" is the songwriting ministry of Dan Simmons Thanks for stopping by. It's my desire to faithfully share that which has been given to me. This website will be a sampling of recordings that I, along with family and friends, have done over past 45 years. There are over 600 original unpublished songs presented in demo form on this site. Special thanks go to my partners in music, my daughter Amber, son Ian and the guys of Single Heart (Gene, Bob, Chris, Marty and Tata) who joined me to sing praises to the Lord down through the years. I also wish to thank those co-writers and artists that have joined with me in developing new music the passed few years to share on this website. I'm now featuring AI (Artificial Intelligence) groups that I've developed to sing some of the songs. I hope it's evident to everyone... that though the melodies and harmonies, styles and singers may change... JESUS has always been and will always be...the Song! ...this music is one simple expression of a very thankful heart. (Dan is a retired firefighter and ordained minister)

Story behind the song
Adapted from the poem "The Old Barn " by Robert Severin
Lyrics
There's and old weathered barn that sits on a hill With a silo and shed and a rusty windmill I remember the place like a friend from the past Where we all had our dreams and the memories would last I remember that old weathered barn And I remember the smell of the hay in the loft Where we slept as a kid when the evenings were soft Where the swallows and bats and an ol' hootin' owl Used to scare us to death now it just brings a smile O, I remember that old weathered barn And this place was much more to my brothers and me Than just an old weathered barn and a fond memory For that's where we would grow like the weeds in the field It helped make us men, an adventuresome yield Now I walk down the lane and up the hill toward the barn That once was the pride of this small family farm With its silo and shed and that rusty old mill Where we played as a kid and time just stood still In the heart of an old weathered barn Yeah, I remember that old weathered barn
