I guess it's a protest song to some extent and less so in others. It was written around the time of the war in Iraq although in hindsight it is maybe more appropriate applied to the Hutton Inquiry. I normally stay clear of politics so this is a rare one.
Lyrics
Political Player, a suit and a tie
Hair cropped short, a squint in his eye
Working all day, out of duty you say
Well thats the price the public must pay
So have known love, or just your conceit
Emotions run high, over the houses good seat
Small brown envelopes pay for his needs
But it's done for the people, yo must believe
Maybe it's time to open your eyes
Push back the boundaries and democracies lies
Tens just a number
Lefts the new right
Political players
Stay cold in the night
Political Player a cog in the machine
Where the power is plenty and loves just a dream
Clean cut average, Not a hair out of place
Perfect mundane, But you cannot hear us
Maybe it's time to open your eyes
Push back the boundaries and democracies lies
Tens just a number
Lefts the new right
Political Players
Stay cold in the night
Tens just a number
Lefts the new right
Political Players
Stay cold in the night.
