In certain spiritual traditions, God is referred to as the Beloved, the Lover, the Goddess, and so on. Life is sometimes referred to as a tavern, and the heart as a mirror, into which one is forced to look closely.

Exchanging complaints about how bad life feels
Choking on dry bones of long-ago meals
