The Unhappies are lo-fi indie geek rock.
We are the same people that are in another band, The Happies. This is our experimental/lo-fi outlet where the songs are a little more raw. Most of us lived in Northern New Jersey at some point, but we now live around the country (New York, Salt Lake City, Chicago, . . .). We each record indivdually and together when we can. We experiment with a wide variety of sounds, but most is lo-fi indie/alternative with a decent amount of folk thrown in. We want our music to be free to the masses (although the mass of people that actually wants our music is rather small at the moment), so download it, burn your own cds, share it with your friends, use it as background music for that school project you're working on--whatever. If you like The Unhappies, click for music by The Happies. Free downloads of some old Unhappies music that mostly pre-dates Pop My Zit, is available .

Lyrics
Something's not right and it's spinning me feeble Something's not kosher but it's not a pig She makes me feel like my lighthouse is dimming I can't really see when try to ride my boat into shore I feel like swimming away I can't see anymore I feel like swimming away But I'm so far from shore I've got this friend in a little green matchbox He only comes out when I crawl up to sleep Fills up my head with these grand disillusions I say I'm too busy and he says it's wrong to eat meat Baby face and turpentine They're not good friends of mine You should really hear me roar When I am alone All the things he does to me They're not good friends you see I never really understand why they say Man I grew up thinking that everyone's equal Black kids with white kids on Sesame Street Now I can see that they're changing my viewpoint I don't really want them to why can't the see it My way Why see it my way My way Who's to say I am right My way Why see it my way My way Why not just fight I've got this friend in a little green matchbox (20)
