Story behind the song
The wedding was on a hot, clear blue morning, at Canyon de Chelly, which is on the Navajo Reservaton, near Chinle. The groom's brother played the cello and I the flute. One of the wedding party had her guitar and offered to improvise. I have tried to recall the general tenor of the guitar part here. I don't remember whether a drum part was at least sketched into the original, but I do remember thinking it would be appropriate in the setting. The harp is left over from an orchestral version of piece done several years ago.
