A song of my life at sea.
I am an independent folk/country songwriter/musician. I record, mix and produce my own work.
Story behind the song
Just thinking of being at sea one day and started messing with this tune.
Lyrics
MEMORIES OF A SAILOR
G. COLLINS
Key of: A
A G D A G A
Have you ever felt a wild ocean storm when the south winds start to form?
A G D A G A
A good ship and an old crew in the mouth of a Gale, alone with the porpose and the whale.
A G D A G A
I can hear her calling me to sea once again to ports where I've never been.
EM A EM A EM A
Turn around and I'm gone, further from my home, on again I roam.
I been a rambler, I lived a sailor's dream on ships of steel driven by steam.
A man-o-war beneath my feet is where I chose to be, out on the wide open sea.
Sweepers man their brooms when the Bos'n blows his pipe and sunrise chases the night.
Turn around and I'm gone, around the world alone, on an on I roam.
Now I'm growing old and spend my days ashore and dream of tossing decks once more.
Young men stil ride the ships that sail upon the sea and Old salts share their memories.
Do me one last favor and write upon my stone, another shipmate going home.
Just turn around and he's gone, no oceans left to roam, finally getting home.
This song is an original composition by George Collins (c)2009
