Story behind the song
I wrote this for my daughter after she had to go away for awhile. It was one take, just me and my acoustic. I told her I was gonna redo it with more production (harmonies, etc..), she said she loved it just like it is! More personal. Hope you like!
Lyrics
Oh no! Where'd ya go, when are you comming home
I did'nt know it was time to go, I did'nt know where you'd gone
Just don't tell me that your leaving, I know that can't be true
and I just don't know what I'm gonna do, with or without you
Do ya know what your doing
your mama's down on her knees
sayin Lord I want ya with my baby
wont ya send her on home to me
Oh my, I know that I can't mend a broken heart
but I can remind you someone loved you from the start
and who am I to be preaching, when you know I done it all before
I just want you to remember, you could be so much more
Do ya know what your doing
your mama's down on her knees
sayin Lord I want ya with my baby
wont ya send her on home to me
It seems oh so long ago, it's only been a few long days
life is in a whirlwind now and I'm walking in a maze
so take just one thing with you, for when you get that itch
do you really wan't a hassle with some crazy, cross eyed b***
Do ya know what your doing
your mama's down on her knees
sayin Lord I want ya with my baby
wont ya send her on home to me
Your time is finally over now, the day is finally here
It's time to start a new life with the one who draws us near
you know we're gonna need a lot of help and we can't do it alone
for now lets kill the fatted calf y'all, my baby's comin home
Do ya know what your doing
your mama's down on her knees
sayin thank you Lord for bringing her home
my baby's comin home to me....
Dean! This is great!!! The picture you chose to go with your song, right away reminded me of our daughter coming home for a visit and how happy I was to see her! So you made that connection........and that's what makes a song for the listener. Something they can relate too in their own lives. Beautiful work!! Rosie Clare
