Are you Ready? An Original Christmas Song
This is a song to prepare your hearts for the Christmas Season. It's my prayer that your Christmas is full of love and warmth, and that you come to better appreciate the true meaning of Christmas through this song!
Songs that I hope will draw you closer to a relatonship with Christ!
This summer (2003) it occurred to me that the gifts and abilities I have were all given to me by my Heavenly Father. When I pondered why he gave them to me, and knowing that our purpose here on earth is to bring glory to our Father in Heaven, I quickly realized that I need to be using these gifts as an offering to God, and not just for my own personal gain. I have been writing songs for years now as a hobby, and almost no one has ever heard a single one of them. They were purely for my own enjoyment. Most of these were actually Christian songs, since that has been my passion for several years now. After this realization, however, I became challenged and motivated to do something more with my music, and I set a goal for myself that by the end of the year, I'd use my songwriting talents to share the good news of Christ's love for us.
I hope you enjoy this music and it moves you closer to having a real relationship with Christ. It would be my honor to serve Him in that way.

Story behind the song
I was inspired to write this song when I was considering the fact that so many people celebrate Christmas each year, decorating their house, their Christmas tree, setting up a manger scene, buying gifts, and even going to church, yet most of those people don't actually know Christ! The irony of that is striking when you consider this is the very reason Christ was born of this earth- so that we could know Him and come to have an eternal personal relationship with our God, the creator of all life. His death on the cross was the ultimate gift to us, and making it possible for us to be with Him in heaven, despite all our sins, if we just come to have a relationship with Him now. You can do that right now by inviting him into your life, and surrendering your own will to His. It's the greatest decision you can ever make in your life, and it's as easy as saying a prayer like this right now:
Lord, I've tried living my life on my own and it hasn't exactly worked out the way I wanted it to. I invite you into my heart right now, and surrender my life to you Jesus. Create in me a clean heart, and one that is filled with your presence each day as I strive to seek your face in every aspect of my life. Amen.
If you made a decision like this right now, or as a result of this song, please let me know. This is the reason I create my music, and if just one person comes to have a real relationship with Christ through this web site, it would all be so worthwhile for me! Drop me a line at dave@davehaupert.com
I hope that all who read this have a great Christmas holiday, each one of us remembering the sacrifice Christ made to repair a broken relationship with us, and each of us embracing that baby in the manger as the one and only Son of God!
Lyrics
Are you ready for him now,
for that baby in the manger?
He's not safe inside His crib,
but in a world so filled with danger.
When the king of angels, prince of peace,
lay in a manger, with cows and sheep,
and wise men all fall on their knees.
You have to ask yourself,
Are you ready for the birth of Christ?
So when you search down deep inside,
for that baby in a manger,
do you see the face of Christ,
or are you staring at a stranger?
Do you hear your heart's voice crying out,
that gentle whisper, or thunderous shout,
And you wonder what it's all about?
You need to ask yourself, are you ready for the birth of Christ?
When you're searching with all that you are,
Can't find him low, high, near or far
Start by looking under that star...
It's there you will find your King,
He's that baby in the manger.
He gave up everything,
so that we'd know he's no stranger.
So when you meet your Savior,
where do you start?
You've spent your lifetime just words apart.
So invite him right now into your heart.
And then you can know for sure,
that your future is secure.
No need to ask yourself...
You'll be ready for the birth of Christ.
