From the depths of America’s finest city, two artists emerge with determination, skill, and pure talent to bring a new innovative sound to the face of Hip Hop. The two combine to form Akaliko, a unique band of microphone bandits and beat composers. Akaliko has been developing their skill for the last few years in the San Diego area. Ja, am I in? (Jamin Barnes) hails from Sacramento where he’s been honing his lyrical creativity for the last decade. Humble Idea (James Roit) has been developing his musical gift since youth in the suburbs of Chicago. Their musical talent continues to grow and knows no boundaries. The group has independently released a full length LP “Unconditioned to Time and Season”, which was well received by the underground communities of both southern and northern California. They are currently working on a new project “Da Tighty Whiteys”, and are more than nine songs deep. Akaliko continues to do shows not just locally, but in different states and countries. The group had the unique opportunity to do the first live Hip Hop performance in Darwin, Australia. For more information on the group go to www.akalikomusic.com. Akaliko is determined to challenge the status quo. They would rather be leaders than followers. The following contains a small sample of their talent. I guarantee you will hear more from them in years to come.

Lyrics
One Minute After Two chorus: One minute after two Man that's it you're through No more drinks for Or you Ja, am I in?: Hot damn Here I go again Should I call a cab Or should I call a friend I took too many Patron shots to be drivin' I really don't know what the hell I was thinkin' If I make it home I swear I'll never drink again Naw I'm lying I'll hold off until next weekend What the hell was I sayin'? Gotta get another drink in before the DJ stops playin' that last song Cause after that the lights will come on I see hella breezies with hardly any clothes on Humble's on the dance floor gettin' his freak on And I gotta take a piss but the line's long for the john Pretty soon it's time us to get gone And so we dip but I know we'll back soon Man tomorrow I'll probably sleep until noon We pile in the car It's time to crank up the tunes I'm feelin' kind of hungry need some food to consume Let's stop at Los Panchos to get some burritos Need a carne asada with hella sauce on mild Papa G freestyles for like six songs Conclude a wild night in SD gettin' my drinks on chorus: One minute after two What the fuck we gonna do now? Round up all of the girls Take them home and then we'll get down One minute after two Really want another drink now What the fuck we gonna do? Go back home and then we'll get down Humble Idea: Too much alcohol flowin' through my veins I can't complain That was the game plan to get faded that way I'm feelin' good with the lights flashin' before my face My body bobin' around To the sound and the beat of the bass I got this hot ass honey I'm happy cause she's dancin' with me And all my homies get'n freaky with her friends indeed Just when I think it can't any better The lights pop on Elation is gone along with the song And getin' our friggin dance on We pour outta the club Wantin' to grub on Mexican stuff So we hit up Los Panchos Get some carne asada tacos to go We're all lighthearted as we dart back to the apartment Trashed like garbage Starvin' for another dance party to harvest Toss on some 70's disco funk And pop open a Bud Light Another one for the girl I might get tonight There's nowhere else I'd rather be than right here right now With my family of friends kickin' it here with me -July 29, 2002 (chorus)
