Contemporary band compositions, classical music arrangements, marches, jazz, symphonies, overtures. A collection from bands that I have played in throughout hi
Hello and welcome! "Symphonic Band Performances" is a compilation of recordings from several high school and college bands that I played in including the TMEA (Texas) All State Band, the TMEA Region X All Region Band, the Interlochen Arts Academy National Music Camp, the Cal Poly Tech Band, San Luis Obispo, the USAF Golden West Band, and recordings from my h.s. band, Beaumont H.S. and a few band recordings that were passed down to me. Also included are various All State groups and college and university bands. I participated and played in the large majority of these recordings. There are no professional recordings here and every recording is Public Domain. Most are available for free download. Each song has been converted from the original analog or digital source and edited with Audacity or Dak software. In the majority of these recordings, I play the tenor sax or alto sax, b flat or e flat clarinet, or directing. I was drum major for 2 years in high school, I have a BA from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I studied music ed, composition and theory. I had about 500 more recordings I was planning to digitize and upload, but this past Nov. 20th, my home was completely destroyed by fire, and all the contents, including all my music and instruments. So, this is it. Please feel free to post a comment here or on my member page. If you like, please become a fan by clicking "I'm a fan" below.

Story behind the song
This is performed at the Interlochen Arts Academy National Music Camp by High School Symphonic Band #2 . This was my first of two summers at the camp. J.S. Bach Fantasia in G Major (ca. 1705) Transcribed by Richard F. Goldman (1960) Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) developed a keen musical interest at an early age. Having mastered the violin and clavier by age fifteen, Bach devoted himself to the study and mastery of the organ. His musical career flourished as an organist, but he soon dedicated his life to the art of composition. Many of his greatest works were composed during the twenty-seven years he served as music director of the St. Thomas and St. Nicholas churches in Leipzig. One of the truly great composers, Bach?s music is inspiring in any setting and is well suited for the concert band. The Fantasia in G Major for organ was composed around 1705 during Bach?s residence in Arnstadt. It was here, at the beginning of his career, that his music was found to be full of ?wonderful variations and foreign tones? as this fantasia demonstrates so aptly with its constant suspensions. This transcription by Richard Franko Goldman and Robert L. Leist was undertaken as a memorial to the great Edwin Franko Goldman, who did so much to popularize Bach?s masterpieces to audiences across the country. The transcription, which recaptures the sound of the Baroque organ with the sonority and resources of the modern wind band, encompasses only the middle portion of the original three-part Fantasia #572. The first performance of the transcription was given by The Goldman Band, Richard Franko Goldman conducting, on July 1, 1957.

Beautiful song, and of course you have performed it so greatly. HAPPY EASTER, IVAN. I am always happy to hear from you. Do you ever perform in concert in the states of Ohio or Pennsylvania? Then, it would be easy for me to come and hear you. Have a wonderful day, and thank you so much for your kind words. Hugs and Blessings to you and your family, Lekzee
