This page, in it's current incarnation, is mainly a place for me to put the songs I have written for FAWM (February Album Writing Month) 2007 and am writing for FAWM 2008. It's a great little challenge, check out their website at www.fawm.org Have a listen, in time I may add older stuff, we'll see...

Story behind the song
first two verses inspired by a hike today. last verse has a lot of borrowing from the first chapter of "The Prophet". Thank you, Mr. Gibran. really hear willis singing this... i'm wondering is that means i have lifted one of his melodies...?... dynamics would be a good addition... right now though (after 2 glasses of wine) i just get too excited to quiet down at the appropriate parts...
Lyrics
i thought i knew what i was doing i thought i knew where i was going i thought i knew just what was safe and what forbidden i thought i knew the score i thought i knew it all i thought i knew but it turns out i didn't and this path goes on forever and each footprint tells a story of the ways the maze keeps changing over all of these long days i saw new buds pushing up i saw grey skies overhead i saw wonder, yet it also felt like treason i felt my soul exalt i felt the winter chill i felt pity for them budding out of season but these green buds in february are the hope that we must carry that the springtime brings us wings to let us conquer anything i saw a sail on the horizon i saw a people come to find me i saw riders of the tides to bring me home i saw all that i must leave i saw all the parts of me i saw all that i have gathered as i roamed and these visions that i have seen of you sailing there in my dreams now you come in my awakening, which is my deeper dream now you come in my awakening, which is my deeper dream
